Shannon is stationed at "The Role 3" combat hospital in Kandahar. Role 3 is one of two level three trauma hospitals in Afghanistan. It was previously commanded by Canada and was turned over to US Navy in 2009. The reputation among soldiers is that if they make it to Role 3 with a heartbeat they will probably survive.
Her group moved from the temporary barracks to a tent close to the Brits. Not as nice as her permanent housing will be but definitely a move up. Assignments have all been confirmed and Shannon will be in the ICU with some rotations in Trauma. Causalities came in last night by helicopter so they were able to observe how patients are moved from the landing areas to Trauma. Shannon has been able to call home a few times and it was very comforting to hear her voice.
